1st birthday party

Marshall is one!!!! For his birthday party I decided on a train theme after searching etsy and finding a printable set of decorations, banners, invitations, and thank you cards for $18! I really liked the color theme. Marsh likes anything that moves so I figured trains would be great for his birthday. Although he probably didn't even notice the trains!

My mom had the idea to make a train cake. Here it is after she assembled it at my house.
She held it on her lap in the car to transport it to the party. It all stayed in tact!

I made these banners but forgot to take pictures of them at the party. They are still hanging up in our kitchen and it's almost January! And the balloons are still up. Marshall is obsessed with balloons and anytime he sees them he points and says ball! It's the cutest thing!

I wanted to rent out a place instead of having it at our house because A- I didn't want to clean up the mess and B- our house isn't quite set up for kids to run around. There were way more adults than kids at his party but the few kids that were there had a blast. We rented out a play cafe. It has a play area for kids and another area where the adults could mingle and eat.

For food I had three train cars filled with goldfish (fish car), animal crackers (animal car), and mini oreos (coal car). In my mind the train cut outs looked cuter but they did the trick. I also displayed the poster about Marshall.

I also made stoplight fruit cabobs- strawberries (red), pineapple (yellow), and grapes (green).
I also had some of Marshall's favorite foods- mac and cheese, cheese cubes, crackers, and carrots. I was so busy setting up I forgot to fill the center with ranch for the carrots! Oh well!
We ordered pizza too!

I had train tickets and railroad track safety signs on the tables. I wish I would have cut out more. As you can see in the picture there was a big chalkboard with a picture of a train. The lady that owns the play cafe draws a design according to the bday theme.

Train Cake!

 Avery!

 Grandpa!

Climbing up the stairs!

Grandpa climbed up with him to help him slide!

Time for cake!

He didn't like the icing at all and didn't make a mess. Which was totally fine by me!

I made a little smash cake with a 6 inch cake pan. He was not happy. Glad I didn't spend a lot on a cake he didn't even eat.

Time to keep playing!

Such a fun party!
There were lots of other people there but I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures. Boo! Something to remember for the next party!
