Things to do in Columbus!


Some guests are traveling to the Buckeye State from many states away (Florida, Arizona, South Carolina, California, New Jersey, Illinois, and of course Kentucky). While you are here you may want to check out some unique things about Columbus. Directions to each are from the ACC!


For all you history buffs:

Statehouse

The 150 year old building serves as both a place of learning and the state’s working seat of government. Visitors to the Statehouse can experience Ohio’s rich history and witness the making of history through the modern lawmaking process.

You can walk!
Directions:
Head right on E Broad St toward Lazelle St
Turn left onto S 3rd St and walk 302 feet

Franklin Park Conservatory

Built in 1895, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a botanical landmark. It is a premier horticultural and educational institution showcasing exotic plant collections, special exhibitions, and a signature collection of work by glass artist Dale Chihuly.

Daily 10am - 5pm
Wednesdays 10am - 8pm
Admission:
$11 adults
$9 seniors and students with valid ID
$6 children 3-17, under age 2 FREE

Directions:
Turn left on East Broad Street
Drive about 1 mile and it will be on the left

Columbus Mueseum of Art

Walk or drive 1/2 mile and Museum will be on left.

North Market

The North Market is an open air market with over 30 different food stands from bakers to farmers. This would be a great place for breakfast Saturday morning.

Short North

The Short North is a trendy little district in the heart of downtown Columbus.
It has shops, restaraunts, art galleries, and live entertainment.

Directions:
Head West on E. Broad St. toward S. 3rd St.
Turn right on N. Pearl St.
Take the 2nd left onto E. Gay St.
Take the 1st right onto N. High St.

The Short North is a district that goes up and down High St.
Just park and start walking up and down the streets.

Directions:
From south of Columbus: Take Interstate 71 North to 270 West. Follow 270 West to Sawmill Road (Exit 20) and go North (or left) on Sawmill Road. Sawmill Road will become Sawmill Parkway. Continue on Sawmill Parkway until you reach Powell Road/SR 750. Turn left onto Powell Road/SR 750. The Zoo entrance is approximately 1 mile on the right.
