Luke Thomas Stan's birth story
Well I didn't have a chance to write a final pregnancy post because Luke decided to come 8 days early!
At 38.5 weeks my water broke on 8/2 @ home @ 4:30 pm.
One last bump pic taken at 38 weeks
I was very excited but very anxious about leaving Marsh. I called my mom and Rob called his parents. I hobbled all over the house leaking everywhere packing and tidying up. Rob was in the middle of cooking dinner so he finished and I ate something. We got to the hospital around 6:00 and I was only 1-2 cm. They checked me into a delivery room and gave me a dissolvable pill that starts contractions. After a couple hours and two of these pills I started having really strong painful contractions. I went as long as I could without an epidural. But at only 3 cm I got one at 2 am and felt sooo much better. I tried to sleep but I was too hyped up. I finally fell asleep around 4:00 off and on and then when the nurse checked me at 5:30 I was 10 cm but he was really high so the dr wanted me to "labor down" in bed which meant try and let him move down more. The nurse checked me again around 6:30 and said he was facing my left hip so she moved me to the right side. The nurses switched shifts and when the new nurse checked me she said let me ask the dr if you should try and push and see what happens. She was more knowledgable than the nurse with Marshall because she didn't set me all the way up. She said that would make him push on my pelvic bone and harder to get him out. Which is what I think happened with Marshall. At 7:30ish I pushed two times and the nurse started freaking out telling me to stop pushing because he was crowning and we needed to get the dr. Rob told me he had hair and I started laughing and they told me to stop because I was laughing him out. The dr came in and I pushed once and he was born! The cord was wrapped around his neck but the dr got it off in time for nothing bad to happen. It was such an easy delivery and so much better than my experience with Marshall. I would totally do it all over again! Luke Thomas Stan was born @ 7:53 AM on 8/3/15- 8.1 lbs and 20 inches long! Since I'm so used to Marshall's size I thought he was about 6 lbs when I first saw him. Haha But nope he was a little bigger than Marsh. He nursed for the first time like a champ from 8:30-9:30! It's been a hard transition with two because I was so used to having just Marshall but I know I will get used to it. Luke is such a sweet baby and a great nurser! He is the perfect addition to our family.
