We took a trip to the south for a little vacay! We decided to fly because Marsh isn't a fan of his car seat. We were nervous about how he would do on the flights. We had lots of toys, Puffs, and the laptop in case he needed some entertainment. The first flight was to Charlotte and he did amazing! He fell asleep as soon as the plane started moving and slept almost the entire time.
When he woke up we gave him a baby food pouch and some Puffs and he was a happy baby! We had a two hour lay over in Charlotte which was kind of perfect because we could eat lunch, feed him a bottle, and walk around a bit. We brought a stroller which was a life saver! While we ate lunch he sat in his stroller and played.
The next flight was straight to Hilton Head Island. He did the same- fell asleep as soon as the plane started moving and slept most of the time! We thought wow this is so easy! We got to Hilton Head around 2:00 and Rob's parents were anxiously awaiting our arrival. We stepped outside and the humidity hit us like a ton of bricks! Especially since its been such a mild summer in Ohio. We got to their house, unpacked, and rested for a bit. Then Grandpa took Marsh on his first golf cart ride and he loved it! He fell asleep at the end. He loves to sleep on Grandpa.
The next day we decided to take Marsh to the pool. He loved it and lasted about an hour. That night we went to the country club for dinner. At first Marsh was fussy but Grandma went back home and got a bottle.
While we waited we took some pictures.
After he ate he was happy again. We ate outside which was perfect with a baby. Here are some pictures. The view is breathtaking.
Marsh eating more Puffs to keep him entertained during dinner.
The humidity was so high his hair started curling in the back.
After dinner we took Marsh down to the golf course to take some pics.
He's not so sure about this grass.
The McDaniel's were eating dinner while we were and they have a granddaughter who is 11 months older than Marsh. We snapped some cute pics of them interacting.
She was sharing her Lammy
He would watch her and just crack up laughing. SO cute!
After dinner it was time for a bath.
On Sunday the plan was for Rob and I to go to Charleston for our first night away from Marsh. It's a 2 hour drive so we got there around 1:00 and checked into our hotel.
It was pretty fancy for lunch and delicious! We each ordered a drink and I really wanted Rob to try fried green tomatoes. He loved them! They were to die for! Gotta love the southern food!
It started pouring rain when we left which was a bummer since the best thing to do in Charleston is walk around. Our plan was to take a carriage tour but we thought we would wait for it to stop raining. It never did. Boo! But we still enjoyed our time together baby free!
The next morning I was so anxious to get up and drive back to see Marsh man. He was pretty excited to see us. Here he is playing with his pool float in the living room. Hehe
That night we went to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner called the Boat House. We got there early because this place has 2 hour wait times almost every night! We only had to wait about 10 minutes thank goodness! Marsh did great in his stroller while we ate. The restaurant sits on the water and has a gorgeous view.
On Tuesday we took him for a short trip to the beach. It's about 20 minutes from Rob's parents house. We didn't want to haul everything that is required to stay for the day so we thought a short visit where he could see the ocean and sand would be perfect. The beach was really shelly (is that a word hehe) so it wasn't easy on the feet.
We walked up the beach in the stroller soon after getting there and he fell asleep. Go figure! Who wouldn't with the relaxing waves and salt water breeze.
The place by the beach had a little splash pad so he played in that for a bit once he woke up. He loved it!
When we got back we decided to take him to the pool one last time since we were leaving the next morning. He was pretty tired so he wanted me to hold him the entire time which I didn't mind at all because I know those days won't last forever. He took a long nap when we got back home and the rest of the evening we relaxed and Rob's parents grilled out.
The next morning we got up bright and early to fly back home. Here's Grandma and Marsh at the airport. He doesn't look happy to go. Back to reality. Boo!
We had the same flights going back but only a 1 hr lay over in Charlotte which made us scramble a bit to feed him a bottle and get to the next flight. He didn't sleep as much on these flights so we had to entertain him a bit more, but he never really cried. All and all a successful first big trip! Yay!
I will leave you with this adorable picture. I went in to get him on the last morning and his hair was sticking straight up!
Love this little guy more than words can express!
