Well the 5th month was full of sickness. My poor baby can NOT catch a break. He had a cold the first weekend. Then we both had the stomach bug Memorial Day weekend and did not leave the house. Then the next week he got a horrible cough and ear infection. I wish I could take his pain away. :(
Sleeping on Mommy...
I always post about Marshall because of course he is THE most important thing in my life.
But one exciting thing I did with my class this last month was take them to the zoo and it just so happened to be opening day of a new part called Heart of Africa. They added giraffes, zebras, and camels! Jack Janna and Betty White were there but I didn't see 'ol BW. Haha it was so much fun! I can't wait to take M this summer!
We also had a couple firsts this month...
First trip to KY, first wedding, and first gender reveal party!
One of my coworkers and dear friends, Coleen, had a gender reveal party. It was so much fun!
I was team Blue but...
It's a Girl!!!
My co teacher Jenn and I rode to the party together and it was really nice having the extra helping hands...
Coleen is so cute and tiny! She's going to be an awesome Mommy!
When he wasn't sick we took walks this past month.
Here he is in his first pair of sunglasses...
We met my friend, Danielle, and her sweet daughter, Avery at the park.
First time in a swing...
He didn't seem to care too much about actually swinging like I thought he would. He just wanted to look and touch the swing. Hehe!
We also celebrated Nana's birthday!
His poor cheeks were red for a couple days. We weren't sure why. I've heard it could be teething or heat rash. These babies are a mystery sometimes!
And to end the 5th month my dear friend Ashley came over to meet M! It was so nice catching up with her! I miss her so much now that she lives in Ky. She brought us bagels and coffee! Thank you Ashley!
6 month stats
Weight: 16.2 lbs (25%)
Height: 26 1/4 inches (25%)
Head circumference: 17 inches (45%)
Diaper size: 3
Clothes size: 6 months (he's pretty much a textbook baby when it comes to clothes size)
Sleep: Now that summer break has started for me I have moved him into his crib and he's doing pretty well. He's sleeping better every night. He usually eats once in the middle of the night and might cry to be rocked once. It just depends on the night. So I'm getting more sleep which feels amazing!
Eating: The latest "everything" says to start babies on food at 6 months. It used to be 4 months, but now research shows their digestive systems aren't ready until closer to 6 months. I have given him food several times to slowly introduce him to it. He seems to loooove applesauce. He didn't care too much for bananas but that could have just been the mood he was in. You just never know with babies. I'm going to attempt to make most of his baby food this summer since I'll be home. I pureed sweet potatoes and froze them. It was so simple!
New things: sitting up- Every week he's gotten better at sitting with less support. He will sit on his own but still tips over if he reaches for something.
He likes to take his paci out and throw it now too.
He's also been getting up on all fours and scooting around a lot more.
And he's also been arching his back. He does it when he's fussy and he does it when he's playing. Must be a new thing babies learn to do.
He loves bath time...
He loves to eat his toes...
He still loves his exer saucer...
His many poses and outfits...
6 month pics
It's getting harder and harder to take his picture! He doesn't want to sit still! Little stinker! And he will not smile for the camera as you can see in all of his pictures. I promise he's a happy baby. When that camera or phone come out he gets serious.
I finally feel like a half way normal person now that he's sleeping more and I'm off for the summer. I'm telling you it's been survival mode since March. I can already tell it's going to be so hard to go back to work in August. But let's not think about that already! I'm ready to enjoy the summer with my little man!
