Week 36
At the beginning of week 36 I had 2 ripe bananas so I decided to make banana bread, which I've made hundreds of times. I wanted to change it up a little so I made banana nut cake instead. It was so delicious and buttery I ate a fourth of the cake all by myself when it came out of the oven. Here's the recipe.
I did not make the icing and I added walnuts, which are my favorite nuts. I took the rest to school to get it out of my house!
Rob's 33rd birthday
We started Rob's birthday off by going to the doctors in the morning! I was so excited for this appointment all week because an ultrasound was planned to see how big he was. Everything looked perfect! He measured at an estimated 6 lbs 3 oz. He also measured in the 35 percentile. I found out the limb that has been sharply poking me in my right side is his foot. His boy parts were large and in charge. The Dr. tried and tried to get a good shot of his face but he was hiding.
Here are his boy parts:
Here is his foot. It's upside down and hard to tell. As you can see from the measurements it says estimated due date 12-18 so who knows?
That afternoon I left work a little early to go to Rob's work because his coworkers threw him a shower. It was so sweet! His boss organized it and planned two games. For the first one, Rob and I had to guess which candy bar was melted in the diaper. I got 2 out of 4 right and Rob got the other 2 right. We make a pretty good team. The other game we were horrible at! You had to list the names of the children from different movies and tv shows. The only one that we knew all the names for was the Simpsons. The cafe from his work made a cake that was delicious! It had fresh strawberries in it!
His co workers were so generous with what they got us. One lady crocheted a blanket and the rest of the gifts were from a group contribution- toys, exer saucer, and gift card. We truly are so blessed to have everything that we need plus much more!
He takes his last CPA test this week so his birthday night was low key. I had bought stuff to make him his favorite dinner- stovetop stuffing meatloaf with Bob Evans mashed potatoes and his favorite cake, pineapple upside down cake. But he decided he wanted to eat out and with just having cake from the shower we were all caked out so I didn't even make it. For presents I got him the leaf blower he wanted and his favorite pair of boxers which are Under Armor and $22 a pair. He gets one pair her holiday. You know you're getting old when you get a leaf blower and underwear for your birthday. Lol!
On Friday we had our first scare! Around 11:00 at work I noticed that my feet were really swollen so I had the school nurse check my blood pressure and it was 150/100! I started freaking out and crying immediately. The thought of the baby being in danger or having to deliver that day was so scary! I called my doctors office and they told me to come in. My dr wasn't in the office but the nurse checked my Bp and it was 148/94 so the dr told me to go to the hospital to get a non stress test and blood work done. She sent us to a hospital that is downtown and not the one we want to deliver at. We didn't know where it was but thank goodness for GPS because we punched the hospital in and found it easily of course. My dr wasn't there but another dr checked to make sure I wasn't leaking amniotic fluid and I wasn't. A nurse hooked me up to a monitor to test baby's heartbeat for about an hour. It stayed in the 130s and 140s. It also showed a number every time I had a contraction. The highest that number went was 60. It was such a relief to hear baby's heartbeat and know everything was ok. I had blood work done to test my liver function and platelets. The results came back normal besides having a bladder infection. The dr sent me home with a container to do a 24 hr urine test. Which means I have to collect my urine for 24 hours and then take it in to the dr office on Monday. This will test for preeclampsia. So far the only real signs of preeclampsia that I have are swollen feet and high blood pressure so hopefully I don't have it.
What a week!
I'm not quite ready for him to make his debut just yet. I would love to get through this next week and then I think I will feel more ready. I really want Rob to take his last CPA test and get a couple more things done around the house. Say a prayer for me!
Pregnancy stats:
Weight gained-34 lbs.
Craving- banana nut cake, walnuts, cinnamon rolls (which I haven't eaten yet, but they sure sound good!), Sprite
Feeling- lots of contractions that aren't painful, feeling pretty good other than the high blood pressure, swollen feet and hands (I haven't worn my engagement ring for a couple weeks, but my wedding band fits because it's a thinner band), heartburn. I've had a pain under my right rib for weeks and I thought it was his foot, but after the ultrasound and finding out his foot his in my side I'm not sure what the pain is. It's almost a burning sensation sometimes or just a constant pain other times. When I went to the hospital they gave me a sheet with preeclampsia symptoms. One of these symptoms is a pain in your right side in your rib so of course I'm worried but maybe it's just a coincidence.
I have continued to read "Praying through your Pregnancy" and these last couple chapters talk about trusting God even when you are worried or if something goes wrong because He knows what is going on and when the baby will be born. So that is exactly what I'm going to do!
