Babymoon Vacation!

So apparently the new trend is to take a babymoon with your significant other before your baby is born. It's exactly what it sounds like, a honeymoon like vacation to spend time with each other before baby is born. We love traveling and going on vacation so we jumped right on that band wagon. We've always wanted to go to Disney World and go before we had kids so we thought this summer would be a great time to go. We thought this before I got pregnant. Once I found out we debated on still going. I love riding roller coasters and knew there would be many of my favorites that I wouldn't be able to ride while pregnant. But there are still lots of things to do so we decided to book the trip. One of my best friends, Becky, was getting married July 4th so we thought we would drive to Ky for her wedding, then drive to South Carolina for a few days, then head to Disney. It was a lot of driving but a lot of fun.

First Stop- Bardstown, Ky- My Old Kentucky Home- Becky's wedding!
It was a beautiful place to get married and a beautiful wedding. Becky looked radiant. All of my best friends were there so it was nice to see them. Since it was the Fourth of July there was supposed to be a big fireworks show after the wedding but it got cancelled because of the rain :( bummer.

The cutest family- Leighton, Mandy, Toby, and Gracen

Second stop- South Carolina
The next day we drove 10 hours to South Carolina. Robs parents live there part time so we visit often. The first day Rob played golf while his mom and I hit the outlets. The second day we hit the gym and then went to the pool and enjoyed the sun and relaxation. This is the only picture I took. Our view from where we were eating at the Boat House- such a delicious restaurant.

Disney is only 5 hours from SC so on Monday we got up and drove to Disney! We were so excited! I was bored in the car and love to take pictures so I took several of the signs. Lol

We decided it would be easiest to stay at one of the resorts so we could have access to the monorail in case I got tired while walking around the parks and needed a break. The Contemporary is the least expensive so we stayed there.

After we checked in we decided to visit Downtown Disney. The monorail does not take you there but they have buses so that was nice.

Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island were both so much fun! Neither one of us had been there before. After walking around for a bit and visiting the biggest Disney store in the world we decided to eat dinner. I had made a reservation at Cap'n Jacks. This was a big mistake! Do NOT eat there! When we walked in both of us thought it was weird that there weren't a lot of people waiting and it was dinner time! But we checked in anyways. They sat us at a table that had a view of the water but was right next to the window. You would think this would be nice except the wooden blinds were caked in dust and dirt. Gross! That is not something you want to be looking at while eating. We should have stood up and left right then and there but neither one of us had the nerve to do so. Our table was also next to the bus station and expo line where several servers were just standing there chatting away. Ugh! How annoying! We looked at the menu and there were like 5 choices for food and they were all $30 a piece. I ordered a Diet Coke and it tasted horrible like something had been added to it so I made the server bring a regular Coke instead. All of these were signs we should have left, but we didn't. We decided to get an appetizer and split crab cakes. The spinach dip was ok but we could tell it had been frozen. The crab cakes were covered in an aioli sauce way too heavily and it came with red potatoes and asparagus. It was ok but I ate it. Rob hardly touched his. Yuck! Lesson to this story- read the menu first and when there is no wait turn around and leave immediately! We thought this was going to be the rest of the trip and that every Disney restaurant was gong to be gross but we were wrong, thankfully!

Waiting to get sat even though there were plenty of open tables and no one else waiting!

I wish you could see the dirt caked blinds!

After we left we walked around and saw a million restaurants that looked amazing! We were kicking ourselves all night for not looking around first. When we bring our kids to Disney we are definitely gong to downtown Disney and eating at the T-Rex restaurant. We went in and looked around and it looked so cool! There were dinosaurs everywhere and fish tanks too. A little boys dream! There was a Lego store with some really neat models built out of Legos. We can't wait to bring our children back.
We walked all the way to the end of Pleasure Island and found this place called Disney Quest. It is a 5 story arcade with rides too. You buy a ticket and get unlimited play on all the games and rides. Since it was after 6:00 tickets were half off so we thought why not? It was a lot of fun! There were several rides I couldn't go on because I was pregnant but it entertained us for a couple hours.

 This was a real person!

A restaraunt that actually had a long wait which tells you it is probably better than ole' Cap'n Jacks!

After this we starting walking back to the front where the Ghiradelli ice cream store was! We had been looking forward to this all night! It was so delicious! I got a chocolate covered cone with butter pecan ice cream and Rob got a fancy milkshake. Yummy!

We were tired after this so we decided to head back to the hotel to rest up for the next day. Stay tuned for Days 2 and 3 at Disney.
