Photographers LOVE to meet at Panera!

For the past 6 weeks or so we have been looking for a photographer for our wedding. Well, when I say we that really means me and asking Rob what he thinks. Well, I take that back he went to one photographer meeting with me and thank god he did. The guy did nto impress us at all. He talked about a couple that he photographed and how big her chest was and then proceded to pull up pictures of the couple to show us. How INSULTING! After that meeting Rob was like no way are we going with him. So I decided to only interview woman from that point on. There are SO many in Columbus to choose from. It has definitely been the toughest decision throughout this whole wedding planning extravaganza. I did not want to scrimp in this department as far as money goes because these are going to be pictures that we will want to look at for years to come right? Well, after I googled photographers in Columbus I got an overwhelming response. I didn't know where to start so I went to my Columbus Bride magazine and looked through pictures from recent Columbus weddings. I contacted several photographers and they sent me their quotes. WOW! The prices ranged all the way up to $4,000 and that is just for an engagement shoot and 1-2 photographers for the wedding day. That didn't include prints. Nowadays with all the technology, photographers just give you a DVD with all the photos included on it.  So I decided to meet with several and see more of what they have to offer. The first photographer was the appalling guy mentioned earlier. UGH!
Every time I set up a meeting they wanted to meet at Panera (hence the title) LOL! In the middle of all this photographer searching I got a referral from a wonderful friend, Ashley Drapp. Which by the way just delivered a beautiful baby boy on Thursday. She had a friend that did her wedding invitations and also does photography in Columbus. So I looked at her pictures on facebook and liked what I saw. I also met her at Panera and fell in love with her invitations! She does amazing work. But, the plan was my Mom and I were going to make them ourselves so I had to focus on what the task at hand was...PHOTOS!  She mainly does baby and family pictures so I was a little weary. But once she told me she had worked a wedding at the ACC I was sold. I feel like this post is all over the place but you get what I'm saying right? I discussed her costs with Rob and we decided to go with Melinda. I love her because she brings her husband along as a second shooter and she has so many creative ideas. We decided it would be cute to do an engagement session in the winter when it snows to do something different. So as soon as December hits I will be praying for a big, beautiful white snowstorm! I haven't decided if I want to make the invitations or have Melinda make them. It's all about the money with that decision! Anyways check out Melinda at http://www.onalimbphotography.com/. If you live in Columbus and need a photographer for new baby, family, or wedding pictures I highly recommend her. HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!
