How in the world has more than 7 years passed since Rob and I met? Hmmm... not sure, but that's how long it has been. Here is the short version of the loooooonnnnngggg story of the last 7 years.
Rob and I both started out going to college at EKU. He is 3 years older than me so while we both attended college there, we did not officially meet. Two years after starting I transferred to UK and two years after he started he moved back to Ohio. When I was 20 and he was 23 I was at a local place in KY and he was back in town visiting some friends. I knew the guys he was with and so we all started talking. Andrea Doyle was with me and I believe Lauren Combs too (correct me if I'm wrong). :) At the time I was living with Becky Smith and Lauren Combs. He came over that night and we talked forever. The next morning we exchanged numbers and I was hoping he would call. He lived 3 hours north so I wasn't really sure where it could go. Needless to say he came back into town the next weekend and we hung out again. From then on we would talk for hours at a time on the phone. He was attending OSU and I was at UK. A couple weeks later we met in Cincinnati and danced all night long. I was really starting to like him but was still wondering how in the world am I going to date someone who lives 3 hours away. A couple months passed and we continued to talk on the phone, go to class, and work. I was babysitting at the time and working at a restaurant. I think he was working at World Market (which is now one of our favorite stores to browse forever in). I finally got the nerve to go up to visit him and I was so nervous. When I got there he had one of his Mom's delicious recipes in the crock pot and it smelled wonderful. We ate and he brought out a special dessert for after (my fave tiramisu). I thought, "He is amazing, but once again how are we going to do this being 3 hours apart?"
Well, somehow we managed to do for almost 4 years. YES! 4 whole years. My friends and family can attest to all of the weekend trips I made up to Ohio and visits he would make down to KY. During these 4 years I graduated and got a teaching job at one of the most amazing Catholic schools in Ky. I still miss it...tearing up. I taught Kindergarten for two years there but knew something was not right. I loved my job, had great friends and family, but was missing Rob and the trips were just getting hard. Also, Rob had graduated at this point and couldn't find a job in KY. So I decided in the summer of 2008 I would look for jobs in OH and if it was meant for me to move I would find a job. Sure enough I got several offers in preschools, which wasn't ideal, but I thought I could do it for a year until I got situated. So I made the big move up to OH in August of 2008 I left my best friends and wonderful family. It was probably THE most scary thing I've ever done. I will always be a KY girl at heart. After working for a year at the preschool, I found my dream job where I currently teach at, a class of 1st graders. I have now lived in Ohio for almost 3 years. I could not have made it without a wonderful group of girls in KY and a new group of girls in OH. My Mom and Dad are the best and have been very supportive. There have many ups and downs in the last 7 years but I am so glad that I made the decision because now I am ENGAGED to the man of my dreams!
